The origin of S of I (Said 'S' of 'I') was from the father of a friend of mine; He called me "Roger, Son of Isaac". I shortened it to S of I. At the time I was Jumper at the Detroit News; when I would finish loading a truck, I would write "S of I" on the back of the truck. It was quite amusing at the time because no-one knew that I was doing it or what it meant. I was interesting to hear what others thought it meant, most believed it was either a political statement or an obscenity. It took a couple months before I was found out and explained what it meant.
