"The Lemon" S/N 42-72993 was the plane that was reported missing during a night mission to Truk Atoll. It was believed by the Operations Officer, Grove C. Johnson, that Japanese Planes flew up, hidden in the exhaust stacks. They then fired on the plane. |

I believe it was attached to the 2nd Air Force, 16th Wing, 471st Bomb Group, 806th Bomb Squadron. The crew went on to serve with the 7th Air Force, 30th Bomb Group, 27th Bomb Squadron on Kwajalein. |

Dorothy Collins accepts Lyndon Collins Air Medal, in a ceremony at Selfridge Air Base in Michigan. Lyndon was still listed as MIA at the time. |
